LightTag has been acquired by Primer.ai. For our current customers, that means that LightTag and its team will continue to serve you. We’ll do so with our new colleagues at Primer, 200+ of the best minds in NLP and user experience, to bring you even more value faster.

LightTag is now free for individual users. For teams, we’re happy to announce unlimited seats as our default option, with 10K annotations free every month. For our self-serve customers, this price cut will be reflected in your next invoice. For our customers on a contract, your account representative will reach out shortly.

Within this quarter you can expect many of the improvements you’ve asked for. We’ll also deliver an integration with Primer’s Automate to allow a “label data get a model experience” based on the same technology that powers NLP among our national security customers.

I’m Tal, LightTag’s founder. I started LightTag in 2017 because I needed a tool to label data. One day I woke up and built it. A while later I woke up and found I’d built a business.

LightTag was bootstrapped and a one-man-show. Every engagement with the product, not to mention every dollar spent on it, was a personal compliment and a delight. Conversely, every churned customer, every unconverted trial, every bug and frustrated user weighed on me deeply.

I thank my customers for the sleepless nights, those that came from frustration when I couldn’t meet your requirements, and those that came from elation when it was clear that you were getting real value from what I had built.

Primer has been a LightTag customer for over two years. They debugged LightTag in production, and requested things that became some of our most impactful and loved features. I first learned of the complexity of language when I studied the work of the Jewish scholar Maimondes. His magnum opus, The Guide for the Perplexed, reconciles Jewish theology with Aristotle’s Ethics. I was always impressed with the verses he chose to end the book with, and I close this chapter of LightTag with the same verse. Jeremiah 9:23-24
